Overall Experience
I really enjoyed being in the food service and hospitality pathway. In these classes I got to cook for teachers, classmates, and football teams. I got to plan for events and have the experience of managing our own kitchen and being event manager for different events going on at school. It felt satisfactory cooking for other people and getting good feedback and comments of how good things were.

Food Service & Hospitality
My freshmen year coming into high school, I chose food service and hospitality as my career pathway because I taught it would be a fun experience. In order to complete this pathway I had to finish three courses which were Creative Living (Intro to Food Service), Foods and Nutrition, and Food Service and Hospitality.
In Intro to Food Service I learned the basics of the kitchen. I also learned how to use safety behavior and techniques to run a smooth kitchen. I was introduced to a variety of tools and the proper way to use them. In this class we really didn't have hands on experiences because we were barely learning the basics of the class.
Foods and Nutrition was much different than the intro class because we were now able to do more cooking labs and work together in groups to complete the cooking labs. In this class we learned more about the nutrition of different foods and how they affect us. This class helped us learn to get along with each other and work in groups to get tasks done and learn to manage ourselves since it was a split class and we wouldn't get the full attention of the teacher all the time.
Hospitality is the last class to take to finish this pathway. We learn about management and careers in the Food Service and Hospitality industry. In this class we cater for football dinners and teacher lunch ins and plan in advance for them which helps us be organized. This class has taught me how restaurants work and how to manage a restaurant and plan ahead of time for the events.
All in all, Food Service and Hospitality was a great pathway and such a great experience. Overall it made me realize that this isn't something that I would want to do as a career since I'm really not interested in cooking and that is why I did my job shadow on a different career. I would say that this career pathway would fit someone who loves cooking or managing their own business.
